Just because your dog has a natural coat, doesn’t mean he’s always warm. Cold, wind, and inclement weather can affect dogs the same way they affect humans. And when your dog is uncomfortable, he’s unhappy. A dog jacket will keep the chills out, protect him from the elements and still allow the full range of motion necessary to run and move around naturally. Dog coats can be comfortable, your dog will quickly forget he’s even wearing one. He’ll just know he feels great.
A dog coat isn’t simply a fun accessory. It provides warmth, protects from the elements, and above all, keeps your dog warm and comfortable. You wouldn’t head out on a cold day without your coat - make sure your dog is properly attired as well.

When walking your dog in the cold winter months, it’s important to keep in mind that dogs are vulnerable to harsh weather conditions just like humans. Dogs have a natural coat of fur that shields them from the elements, but amongst all dogs, only a few breeds like St. Bernards and Huskies were bred to endure the cold. If your dog is not one of the few cold weather breeds, it’s best to cloth them in a dog sweater during the winter. This will add an additional layer to help keep them warm and prevent frostbite and hypothermia.
It’s also a good idea to avoid walking your dogs for too long outdoors, especially if they’re just walking and not running; a dog’s feet can become cold and their vulnerability to frostbite increases.

Whenever I see a dog in a little jacket or scarf, I just melt. Dogs dressed like little people are my favorite thing. The best is when someone puts a hat on their pet and it bobs when they move. Isn’t that just divine? Dog sweaters help little and hairless dogs in the cold and they are just so darn adorable.
Yesterday I saw a bulldog wearing a poofy pink jacket with a golf cap like a sporty Jackie O. I thought it was so wonderful that this lovely lady put the time and effort into her dog that she does into herself. It is so endearing. I sat and chatted awhile with her and she was very interesting.

You may not think that dogs can get sick because they have furry little coats, but that is not always the case. My dog, Chuck, got sick the other week, primarily because we went out for a jog in the rain. A few days later, Chuck was sneezing every few seconds and acted like a lethargic toddler.
While the vet said he just caught a little cold, he also suggested that I get a dog coat for Chuck. A little while afterwards, I bought him one and now when we decide to go off on a drizzling jog, I don’t have to worry about him getting sick.
