Your dog will need a bag for his own things. Pack his treats, brush, travel dog bowls, and some toys. You will want to pack enough of his brand of dog food. You cannot be too sure that it will be available where you are going. Include a few dog towels in his bag. You will need them if decides to play in the rain.
Dogs get tired on long trips the way humans do, so be sensitive to his needs. Frequent stops will be good for him so he can walk around and do his natural needs. More and more roadside stops are providing facilities for the dog. Let him drink from his water bowl making sure not to give him too much to avoid his getting sick and vomiting in the car. Taking these precautions will assure you of a relaxing trip with your pet.
When travelling with your dog, you need to secure them in your car with a travel harness. They work like a seatbelt for us humans. And since you care for your dog’s safety, they should be in harnesses as well.
There are different harnesses out there so you can choose the right one that will fit our dog. They have different configurations so each dog can be properly secured on the seat. They are available in different sizes and colors so check if it fits first. Some harness will not work with some cars so ask your salesperson about an adapter. And this also protects your from your dog that might suddenly jump on you when you are driving. You can’t go wrong with a dog travel harness.

Small dogs, or mini dogs as dog lovers like to call them, are great to bring along on errands or trips. Unlike a large dog, a small dog can fit well in a dog tote. Small dogs are easy to carry around because they are lightweight.
Small dogs are adorable, too. It’s so easy to dress them up. They are also easier to manage and everyone seems to love them.

It is important to keep our dogs safe in cars and vans while travelling. There are numerous types of dog safety harness available on the market these days.
I like to use a seatbelt type of safety harness myself. The advantage of the safety harness is that it goes around the chest and body and holds the dog to the seatbelt in case of a sudden stop or accident. Otherwise the dog could go flying forward and be injured on the dashboard, the back of the front seat, or even the windshield. Additionally, in the event of an accident where the windows are broken or a door flies open, the dog might get loose on a busy roadway and be hit by a car, whereas the safety harness keeps the dog secured inside the car until people can release the seatbelt.
